Prophet Yunus (AS) was trapped in complete darkness inside the fish. So he realized his error at that time and repented seriously towards Allah. He praised Allah, declared His greatness, and accepted that he was wrong by reciting Ayat e Karima. Then Allah accepted his prayer, and He commanded the big fish to let Prophet Yunus (AS) go unharmed onto the beach. He was weak and tired, and Allah made a gourd plant grow over him to give him shade and sustenance until he was better. *(Surah As-Saffat 37:145–146)*
